Holly Burnette, MBA, PHR, CHC


Holly M. Burnette is a Consultant in Merces’ Gainesville office, providing advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of matters relating to employee compensation.  She is also a Senior Consultant with FQHC Associates, a trusted partner of Merces, where she provides support on a broad range of human resources issues, including recruitment, training and development, HR management, and performance management.

Holly has over twenty-five years of work experience as an underwriter, compliance specialist, and in various management roles, including HR Director and CEO. Her educational background, combined with years of work experience in both the private and FQHC environments, equips her with the ability to understand the special challenges faced by today’s HR professionals, as well as the operational challenges facing healthcare facilities in general.

Holly maintains membership in local Florida HR chapters and is a long-standing member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Holly has demonstrated her leadership ability both in her employment roles and in volunteer efforts by holding board positions including president of the Charlotte County Society of Human Resource Management. Holly is the only HR professional since the society’s creation in 1992 to receive the honor of HR Professional of the Year for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006. Holly has also been actively involved as a board member for the American Cancer Society (ACS), working for several years on the Relay for Life event. She was the first individual to receive “Silver Status” for fundraising in a Charlotte County, Florida event with the ACS Relay for Life. Holly also participates in local events for the Epilepsy Foundation and with Free to Breathe, a National Lung Cancer Partnership.

Holly’s previous work experience includes nearly ten years with Cigna Securities, Inc./Cigna Capital Brokerage as an underwriter and compliance specialist. During her tenure with Cigna, she also represented the State of Connecticut as a member of the Security and Exchange Commission’s State Liaison Committee. In 1990, Holly entered the healthcare arena including roles as HR Director and the CEO of a private sector ophthalmology practice and ambulatory surgery center.

In her spare time, Holly enjoys spending time with her husband and family, including her four grown children and her grandchild. She and her husband enjoy camping, kayaking, and travel.
