Edmund B. Ura is a founder and President of Merces Consulting Group, Inc.  Ed works with human resource and general management, Directors and Board committees to assist them in developing effective organization designs, and compensation strategies and programs to meet strategic and operational needs. He has overall management responsibility for the firm and is leader of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Professional and Trade Association Practices.

Ed has more than 25 years of professional compensation consulting experience, and is a recognized expert in the fields of salary administration and executive compensation, particularly in the not-for-profit sector.  He has managed numerous surveys of compensation, benefits and human resources practices, on an area-wide, state-wide and national scale, for hourly, salaried and executive positions.  His survey results and analyses have been used in legislative proceedings in Michigan and California.

A nationally-recognized expert on compensation and related issues, Ed has been published widely in journals and has presented to groups nationwide, including organizations such as the American Institute of CPAs, National Center for Farmworker Health, Judicial Council of California, Accounting Aid Society, Society of Human Resource Management, Credit Union National Association and the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Prior to founding Merces, Ed was a Compensation Consultant in the Detroit office of TPF&C (now part of Towers Watson), an international management consulting firm, working in both the executive compensation and salary management practices.  he also worked as a Senior Research Analyst for the Employers Association of Detroit (now the American Society of Employers).

When not working on the renovation of his about to become historic Royal Oak home, Ed enjoys road cycling, traveling, and attending college football games in Ann Arbor.
